There are different services responsible for managing audio output on Windows 10 PCs. They have to be running for the audio device to put out sounds from different system applications.

One of the major causes of the problem is the audio driver. The driver controls how the operating system communicates with the audio device. If it becomes outdated or corrupt, the device will be affected. To resolve the issue here, you have to perform a clean installation of the updated driver. There are different ways to go about that.

Windows Update is responsible for downloading and installing different types of updates, including driver updates for devices such as the audio adapter and speaker. When you run the tool, it will check for those programs that require updates and automatically download and install their updated versions. Auslogics Driver Updater will make the process easy for you.

Once installed, the tool will scan your PC for faulty drivers and help you automatically download and install their updates. Also, when updates become available in the future, the program will notify you after one of its routine scans. I have kept up with LiveUpdates. My pc was Off since last night. Turned on, and saw the red X. Went to Open Norton Internet Security. Ran manual Liveupdate.

Seven updates completed. No change. Disabled Firewall.. Disabled Auto-protect. Whole bunch More updates I had a similar issue and found that my Norton product was not functioning properly when I wasn't logged into the window's administrator account. In my case, all the scans and updates worked fine after running them under my admin account.

Typically, it is less safe to use the internet on a window's admin account because it gives a lot of access to system functions that can be used against you. What I was told is: when the driver was installed, all necessary infi went with it.

However, if I had been using a router, it would have stored the info and would have entered it when I rebooted. Just thought I'd pass this tidbit in case anyone else encountere. A great many users have a router connected to the computer network system. As you suggest, the router would have picked up on the network card and assigned a new IP address behind the router firewall. Click on the Start orb, and in the run box, type cmd and press the enter key. This should get you a black screen with a DOS prompt.

After the text entries stop and becomes stable, then type exit and press the enter key. The IP settings should then be re-assigned for your network. This should allow you to update all the network settings without the need to enter the settings manually.

View solution in original post. Your PC is experiencing some boot delays about the time the network driver is being loaded and trying to connect to the internet. Then reboot and Windows will reinstall the network driver. Try this first and if it doesn't solve the problem then we''ll have to look deeper into the issue. Thanks Big Dave. Will do. Been having a few other problems also but am working with Tech Spt on those. Will advise how I come out on your suggestion.

That got me back up and running. Thanks Hanspuppa.
