In reply to Saurabh Joshi's post on January 27, I have already tried chkdsk and Disk Defragmenter, but neither of them helped changed anything related to the startup programs not starting.
However, the startup time slightly improved from defragmenting after using the 20 second delay to log in. Chkdsk found no problems. In reply to RootBeer's post on January 27, Hi, Try MSConfig and see if you have all the startup entries listed in order and requried ones only!. That did not help. No matter what changes I make to which programs start automatically, some remaining startup programs set to start automatically still don't load at all.
Also, I had to do a System Restore because anytime I make changes in MSConfig, my computer starts asking me which operating system to load, which isn't normal for my computer. In reply to RootBeer's post on February 5, If you start your system in a clean boot are you seeing everything load? Hello RootBeer, This is most likely that your programs are set as delayed startup. You could also return to the Applications tab, right-click on an application and select the Go To Process command from the resulting shortcut menu. The other thing that you need to realize is that many of the running processes belong to Windows.
EXE is the Windows print spooler. Warning The following section involves editing your system registry. Using the Windows Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems requiring the reinstallation of your operating system and possible loss of data.

Some of these programs, such as your antivirus software, are desirable. Others, however, you may want to remove. While you are in this part of the registry, you may also want to check the RunOnce registry key.
Normally, this will be empty, but if an application wants your computer to run a file one time on the next boot up, the file will be listed here. As you work through the registry, you should be able to match most of the running processes up with references within the registry. You should be able to find the process within the registry.
